Davison had its beginnings in George Davison\u2019s grandfather\u2019s basement in the late 1980\u2019s. While the date marks 21 years in business, Davison and a committed group of creative people spent several years prior to that making the company the success it is today. To mark this momentous day in our history, let\u2019s take a look back at what was happening at that time. <\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">Some of the greatest sitcoms in television history were red hot in December of 1989, including <em>The Cosby Show<\/em>, <em>Roseanne<\/em> and<em> Cheers<\/em>. The latter is especially noteworthy as \u2018Cliff Clavin\u2019 himself, John Ratzenberger toured Inventionland in November of 2007.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2974\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/John-R-and-Mr-D.jpg\" alt=\"John Ratzenberger Inventionland\" width=\"460\" height=\"293\" \/><\/p>\n<p> Some of the top songs in early December 1989 were Billy Joel\u2019s \u201cWe Didn\u2019t Start the Fire\u201d and Milli Vanilli\u2019s \u201cBlame It on the Rain.\u201d <em>The War of the Roses<\/em> starring Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny Devito, and<em> She-Devil<\/em> starring Meryl Streep, Ed Begley, Jr. and Roseanne were both released on December 8, 1989. Two other notable films around that time include <em>Driving Miss Daisy<\/em>, which went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture of 1989 and the holiday classic <em>National Lampoons Christmas Vacation<\/em> starring Chevy Chase. <\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2972\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=2972\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p> <figure id=\"attachment_2972\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2972\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2972\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=2972\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2972\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/8-300x198.jpg\" alt=\"George Davison\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2972\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">George Davison<\/figcaption><\/figure> The Pittsburgh Penguins beat the New Jersey Devils 3-2 on December 8, 1989. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the New York Jets 13-0 on December 10th, improving their record to 7-7. And in the news, on December 3, 1989, less than one month after the fall of the Berlin Wall, U.S. President George H. W. Bush and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev released statements indicating that the Cold War between their nations may be coming to an end. <figure id=\"attachment_2973\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2973\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2973\" title=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/12\/14-300x188.jpg\" alt=\"Davison Design\" width=\"300\" height=\"188\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2973\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Linda, the receptionist<\/figcaption><\/figure> <\/p>\n<p>Davison Design and Development shares its December 8th birthday with the following people: Eli Whitney (Inventor of the Cotton Gin &#8211; 1765); Sammy Davis, Jr. (1925); Nick Nolte (1940); Sinead O\u2019Connor (1966); Philip Rivers (San Diego Chargers QB -1981) and Drew Doughty who plays in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings, who was born on Dec. 8th, 1989. Here\u2019s to 21 years as a company!
