{"id":7111,"date":"2012-04-11T08:03:10","date_gmt":"2012-04-11T12:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/devwp.davison.com\/blog\/?p=7111"},"modified":"2012-04-11T08:03:10","modified_gmt":"2012-04-11T12:03:10","slug":"a-look-back-at-the-eight-track","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/blog\/a-look-back-at-the-eight-track\/","title":{"rendered":"A Look Back at the Eight Track"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today is Eight Track Tape Day and while some of us may have never owned an eight track, due to cassette tapes, CDs, iPods, etc., we want to take a minute to honor this \u201cfounding father\u201d of music technology.\u00a0 After all, we know many modern inventions stem from making advancements to current products!<\/p>\n<p>In honor of the eight track, here are a few fun facts about the gone, but certainly not forgotten, technology:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7112 alignleft photo\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/8-track-tape-day-davison-blog_.jpg\" alt=\"Music Innovation\" width=\"187\" height=\"234\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>William Powell Lear, the man behind LearJet, was also the inventor of the eight track cartridge tape system.<\/li>\n<li>All 1966 Fords offered a factory installed, in-dash eight track player.<\/li>\n<li>Eight tracks were the preeminent portable and car audio format of the 1970s.<\/li>\n<li>Record clubs, like Columbia House, offered eight track tapes well into the 1980s.<\/li>\n<li>Madonna&#8217;s early albums, as well as Michael Jackson&#8217;s &#8220;Thriller,&#8221; were offered to Columbia House club members on eight track!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, today, while you\u2019re cranking up your iPod, satellite or iHeart radio, say a silent \u201cthank you\u201d to the eight track tape!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-7114 photo aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/8-track-tape-day-davison-blog_2_-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"Music Technology\" width=\"299\" height=\"388\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today is Eight Track Tape Day and while some of us may have never owned an eight track, due to cassette tapes, CDs, iPods, etc., we want to take a minute to honor this \u201cfounding father\u201d of music technology.\u00a0 After all, we know many modern inventions stem from making advancements to current products!
