And, how about those bifocals for reading those books?\u201d As much as inventing harkens back to history, it also alludes to the limitless possibilities of man, the American Dream and, most importantly, fun.<\/p>\n<p>May is National Inventors Month, and since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/products\/?sent_search=1&amp;search=\">Davison supports inventors<\/a> from all walks of life and inventions both big and small, we\u2019d like to shine the light on some lesser-celebrated visionaries and inventions that have contributed to the betterment of the human race \u2013 and to the fun of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>George de Mestral \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Thoq_-JS-6I\">Velcro<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nLearning to tie our shoes is a right of passage, a great gauge of how our children are advancing and another step toward their <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7359 photo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/Velcro.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"276\" height=\"220\" \/>growing independence. But, until that point, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Velcro\">George de Mestral<\/a> and Velcro can be thanked for getting our children in their shoes in under four hours, so we have more time for grass cutting, dish washing and bed making! And, after a lifetime of chores, who wants to retire and waste more time tying their shoes?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Brooke Miller \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pooper-scooper\">Pooper-Scooper<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nNo over-glorifying the credence of this invention: Keeps hands away from well, you know\u2026\u00a0 and, inventions like the Pooper-Scooper laid the groundwork for other familiar Davison designs, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/products\/product_hugspottypaws.html\">Potty Paws<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"photo alignleft wp-image-7357 size-medium\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.davison.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/as-seen-on-tv-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"168\" \/>Ron Popeil \u2013 <\/strong>Ron Popeil has created countless convenience products over his long inventing career and can be considered one of the founding fathers of \u201cAs Seen on TV\u201d products.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kevin G. Kinsella \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/patents\/US5443258\">The Basketball Return<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nRemember the kid down the street with all the cool gadgets who had this?
